Ka Ying Lydia CHENG (鄭嘉盈)
is a grade 6 student at Toronto French School. She started playing the piano at the age of 5 and picked up the violin through a starter program in the Toronto Chinese Community Church at the age of 6. Lydia first started taking private violin classes with Ms. Jenny Liang(梁国贞), and presently studies violin with Mr. Tony Fan(范好登). Lydia has been recognized by many area festivals. Recent highlights include placing 1st in the String Duet under Age 13 Category of the 2009 Kiwanis Music Festival, Chinese Music String Category and Grade 9 Violin Category of the 2009 YIPS Music Festival respectively. Besides actively participating in the CASTYO Youth Orchestra and the RCM Baroque Orchestra, Lydia enjoys playing viola in her school string ensemble and her chamber ensemble, namely, the Treble Maker String Quartet. Lydia successfully completed her Grade 8 violin RCM Exam with First Class Honours in 2008. Under the tutelage of Ms. Jia Yu XIE (谢家瑜), Lydia is preparing for her grade 8 piano exam on June 19. Lydia has a variety of interests, including cooking, reading, skiing, traveling and playing video games. She was proud to recently receive her St. Johns Ambulance Babysitting Certificate in April. Lydia has been participating in a childrens program at Fairchild Radio AM1430 as a Little Dj since 2006.

Oscar Len Tien-Yang (連天陽)
is fourteen years old. He began his violin studies at the age of seven. He is currently studying under the direction of Mr. Tony Fan and is now preparing for his Grade 8 RCM practical examination in August 2009. Oscar is accepted by the Arts York Music Strings Program in Unionville High School for Grade 9. He has participated in various violin competitions such as Kiwanis Music Festival in 2009, first place; the Markham Village Music Festival in 2002, second place; Kiwanis Music Festival in 2006, third place. In the Pickering GTA Music Festival, he has won second place in 2002 and first place in 2005. On June 7, 2008, Oscar and Lydia were featured soloists, playing Antonio Vivaldis Concerto Grosso in A Minor, accompanied by the Chinese Artists Society of Toronto Youth Orchestra at the Glenn Gould Studio. Other than orchestral participation, Oscar used to host a children program named Classical Music Channel at Fairchild Radio AM1430. Oscar has performed in several outdoor broadcasting shows such as Family Fun Day 2007 and Chinese New Year Celebration in 2004. Besides, playing violin, he started playing guitar two years ago. Oscar loves music, drama and engages in many different performing arts activities.
