“Thank-you for your invitation, I have decided to come and perform! I just turned 10 on April 13. I have been playing piano for almost 3 years now! I take piano classes on Saturdays, and I also got scholarships from my piano school. I got it twice already. For the first time, I got $100, and for the second time, I got $325. Isn't that awesome? I also want to tell you that, on my grade 3 piano exam, I got 92. My parents were proud of me and I was happy too.
On the competition, at the Royal Conservatory of Music 2010, I got a silver metal. I also got the highest mark in the whole group! ( YAY! )”
Nancy Telfer (b. 1950)

The Mystery of Mars
Everyone talks about it, everyone wants to go there, but so far nobody has. Mars is the fourth planet from the sun and the seventh largest. It has been known since prehistoric times. In recent years (beginning in 1976) several spacecraft have landed on Mars, some that have sent back geological data and pictures.
There may have been rivers, even lakes and oceans on Mars long ago, but now the surface has crusted and liquids have dried up. In this piece, Telfer is looking back to the time when there were rivers flowing endlessly on the planet.
