“I've been playing the piano for about 10 years.  It's my primary instrument, my secondary being the cello.  I'm taking the grade 10 RCM exam this summer, and I'm planning to take the ARCT exam as well.”

PIERRE GALLANT, born in 1951, is a composer of Acadian descent who presently lives in Ottawa. Several of his compositions are featured in the piano collections of the Royal Conservatory of Music.

The song “Land of the Silver Birch” is a popular melody inspired from the music of the native people of Canada. This interesting set of variations develops through evocative sonorities, creative rhythmic transformations and various pianistic effects.
